Volcren is created and directed by Paolo Righini. It is a human-led music and narrative project that uses generative tools as part of its production process.
Human authorship
Paolo Righini writes the lyrics, develops the concepts and stories, creates original musical and guitar ideas, records guitar performances and defines the artistic direction of the project.
The lyrics published on this website are original works credited to P. Righini. The characters, Archemondo and the continuing Volcren narrative are developed as parts of the same fictional world.
How AI is used
AI-assisted tools are used to explore arrangements, vocal and instrumental textures, production alternatives and visual interpretations. The process is iterative: material is prompted, listened to, rejected, revised, selected and shaped until it serves the song.
AI does not decide what a Volcren song is about. It does not replace the lived experience behind the words or the human judgement that accepts, changes or discards an output. The emotional intention and final creative decisions remain human.
Virtual band, real project
Paul Littlestripes, Jimmy Ache, Diego Paul Sales, Venus Bradan and founding drummer Joe Resnick are fictional band characters. They provide voices, histories and points of view through which the music can be experienced. Their images are artistic representations, not documentary photographs of performing musicians.
Why this disclosure exists
Listeners should be able to understand the nature of the work without reducing it either to “made by a machine” or pretending that no generative technology was involved. Volcren sits between writing, performance, direction, digital production and fiction — and describes that process openly.
Individual releases may involve different combinations of original performance, generated material, editing and selection. More detailed context appears in the Journal when it is relevant to a particular record.
