DIFFERENT WAYS

Papo’s Restaurant

P.Righini, 2025

“Oh, fuck… what’s happen? An invisible force closes my eyes… Darkness all around… Then — an explosion of light! Death is not the end of energy. I feel alive… better than ever!”

I’ve reached my point, there’s not much to lose, On my table bed, just water and sugar to use. I’ve walked for years on this laughing land, Joy and sorrow mingled, still I understand.

Come on in to Papo’s Restaurant, I’ll be the one who welcomes you in. With my black coat and my white scarf on, I’ll greet you gently, with a smile within.

So many have come to sit at my place, I’ve cooked them soups, with warmth and grace. I bought the honey, I poured good wine, Always searching for something kind.

I led them up to my tower high, To watch the Moon and the starlit sky. To hear the sound of distant spheres, I gave them calm, I gave them ears.

Come on in to Papo’s Restaurant, I’ll be the one who welcomes you in. With my black coat and my white scarf on, I’ll greet you gently, with a smile within.

But now the time has come at last, My borders scattered, the stardust cast. The wind has taken me where the mountains rise, Where the heavens meet the skies.

I don’t ask for tips or praise anymore, No complaints, no voices at the door. Leave them to those who still remain, I’m far away, beyond your pain.

Come on in to Papo’s Restaurant, But it’s no longer me who lets you inside. I watch from afar with a quiet delight, Smiling at you from the other side.
