JOE RESNICK · FOUND AMONG HIS PAPERS

Joe Resnick’s
Last Testament

Paul found them in the bottom drawer of Joe’s desk, buried under sheet music, receipts, used tissues and a pile of fan letters.

He read the pages twice. Then he looked up.

“Fuck. Now I finally understand something about Archemondo.”

And he started laughing like an idiot.

Jimmy picked up one of the tissues.

“Shit, Paul. This thing still has his boogers on it.”

Diego couldn’t take it anymore. He folded in half laughing.

“The old bastard could’ve at least left us some money.”

Then he headed downstairs, still laughing and cussing.

That was us, trying to make fun of death. Lady D still scares the shit out of us. Maybe laughing is how we look her in the face without letting her win.

Paul wanted Joe’s pages published exactly as we found them.

Well, minus the tissue.
